Francophone childcare service

902 Regency Drive, Sherwood Park, Alberta

OUR VISION

The La Bicyclette service believes:

  • That children can learn to communicate in the French language and be supported in their growth and emotional, social, creative, cognitive, and physical development within an environment that promotes active learning, autonomy, freedom, and a sense of responsibility and order.

  • That children’s development and well-being are achieved through close collaboration between parents and educational staff. The centre promotes learning and the overall development of children in an inclusive and multicultural environment.

  • That parents are their child’s first educators. They have the responsibility to work collaboratively with the educational staff for the well-being of their child.

As part of the FPFA’s Horizon department, the program aims to offer high-quality services to Francophone families in Alberta.

OUR MISSION

The La Bicyclette service offers a preschool education program for children aged 3 to 5, as well as before- and after-school care, managed by the Fédération des parents francophones de l’Alberta (FPFA). The main objective is to allow each child to develop as a distinct individual within a Francophone environment.

Learning takes place through play and is based on the needs and interests of the children. Our vision of child-centered pedagogy is grounded in the concept of “the image of the child: a capable learner and a citizen.” The centre offers group activities, collaboration with community partners, workshop-based activities, and free play to encourage creativity and exploration.

The program is inclusive and responds to the needs of all children, including those with special needs. Each child should feel accepted, comfortable, and respected. We aim for every child to develop self-confidence, gain the autonomy they need, and find within themselves the answers to the challenges they encounter.

Security Deposit

A payment of $200 (preschool and school) will be required during the child’s registration. This amount will appear on the first bill.

This amount is reimbursable when the child leaves the centre if the parent respects the 30 days’ written notice and the account is balanced.

For each payment with insufficient funds, a $45 fee will be added to the family’s account and must be paid in the delay required.

Late Payment

For each late payment, a $45/week fee will be added to the family’s account and must be paid in the delay required.

Parent Arriving Late Past Opening Hours

PROLONGED ABSENCES - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Due to new government directives, we wish to inform you that absences of a full month (with no attendance at all) have a significant impact on our centre’s funding.

To reserve your space during a prolonged absence, the regular monthly fees apply:

  • $326.25 for full-time enrollment

  • $230 for part-time enrollment

Important: A single day of attendance during the month allows us to maintain full funding for the centre. We strongly encourage you, whenever possible, to plan at least one day of attendance during your vacation. This simple action greatly helps us maintain the quality of our services for all children.

To plan your absences or discuss your situation, please contact the registration clerks.

SERVICE CONTRACT

The Service Agreement contains all relevant information and details regarding how the service operates. It is important to review it before even completing your child’s registration form and to refer to it throughout the year as needed.
